
Similar to a traditional supermarket, you’ll need to find the item you want, add it to your shopping cart, and then check out on Amazon. It’s really quite simple once you get the hang of shopping in a virtual environment. However, if you’re a beginner, we’ve got you covered with some basic Amazon.com purchasing instructions.
Purchase on Amazon:
- Open your Amazon account and log in.
- Navigate to Departments and select a category. Click on an item you desire when you locate it.
- After checking it out, click Add to Cart.
- Click Checkout to continue.
- Submit your shipping address, then press Continue.
- Select a payment method, then press Continue.
- To place your order, click.

Detailed directions for Amazon purchases
1.Log into your Amazon account first.
Log in by visiting www.amazon.com in your computer browser. Move your cursor over “Hello, Sign In” and click Sign In to accomplish this. Then enter your email address and account password in the corresponding boxes that are highlighted in the screenshot on the right below. Click Sign In Using Our Secure Server to finish.
2. Look through the departments.
Imagine that your toaster just stopped working and that you are searching for a replacement. Move the cursor over Departments first, then over Home, Garden, and Tools, and then click Kitchen and Dining.
3. Select a certain category.
To further refine our search, let’s click Ovens and Toasters, followed by Toasters.
4. Examine and choose an item.
A list of toasters that are for sale will now appear.
You can click on the options that are displayed along the left side of the screen to further refine your search. You might look for a product like:
- in a certain color
- from a specific business or brand
- depending on how well it has performed inside a specific price range in Amazon customers’ reviews
- depending on the seller
The product details itself will demonstrate, among other things:
- what the product looks like, and if there are any variations, what it is called and how much it costs when you purchase it (and if you save anything off retail price)
- when it will be available, how many are still on hand, and what other customers are saying about the product
- Click on a product’s name when you discover one you like.
5. Put the item in your shopping cart.
You can view some more specific information on the product you’ve chosen here. If you’ve made up your mind that this is what you want, choose how many of it you want by clicking the drop-down option next to “QTY.” Next, select Add to Cart.
6. Go through the Amazon checkout process.
Click Proceed to Checkout if this is the only thing you want to purchase.
7. Type a delivery address.
You must now choose an address to which to mail your delivery. You’ll need to make one if you don’t already have one.
Click “Enter A New Shipping Address,” then in each of the boxes or drop-down menus, input or choose:
- the complete name you
- your postal code
- your apartment address (if you live in an apartment, condo, etc.)
- your mailing code (it doesn’t have to be a U.S. Z.I.P. code), state, province, or area where you reside, and the city in which you reside
- the nation where you reside, and your contact information
Additional choices are available under “Optional Delivery Preferences,” including:
- Determine whether you are accessible to receive packages on weekends.
- When you’ve finished, click Continue to move on. After you’ve entered all of your information,
- choose whether or not the address to your items will be shipped to is the same one that you want your bill to come to.
- Provide Amazon with the access code to your apartment complex or gated community so a delivery person can get in.
8. Check the summary of your order.
You can view a summary of your order on the left. You’ll be prompted to choose the type of shipment you desire on the right (if applicable). Select the desired type by clicking the button there. Generally speaking, shipping costs increase with the shipping speed. Click Continue once you’re finished.
9. Select a mode of payment.
You must now decide how you will pay for your purchase.
We’ll assume for the purposes of this tutorial that you want to make a credit card payment. Add another credit card by:
- To find the “Credit or Debit Cards” area, scroll down.
- Type your name exactly as it appears on your credit card in the “Name on Card” field by clicking there.
- Enter your credit card number by clicking in the “Card Number” box (with no spaces).
- For the month and year that your credit card expires, select them from the two drop-down boxes labeled “Expiration Date.”
- To add this credit card as a payment choice, click Add Your Card
When finished, this credit card will automatically be chosen as a method of payment; simply click Continue.
10. Verify and submit your order.
You can examine your order and make any last-minute adjustments, including the shipping method, on the following screen. Click Place Your Order if you’re satisfied with what you have.
An email confirmation receipt will be sent to you. It’s now only a matter of waiting for your item to arrive!
