iPhone 14 colors: all the rumored and likely shades

There have been numerous reports about the colors of Apple’s upcoming phones since the iPhone 14 range is almost here and is anticipated to ship in September.

Although nothing is certain just yet, we now have a general idea of all the colors that the iPhone 14, as well as the iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, might be available in.

The iPhone 14 color speculations we have heard so far are examined below, along with the likelihood that certain colors may actually be released in the upcoming weeks. Additionally, we are investigating which colors may be discontinued this year.

The colors that we’ve heard the iPhone 14 might come in at launch are listed below. It’s important to note that the iPhone 14 Max hasn’t generally been mentioned, but based on past performance, we would anticipate that this larger model would arrive in the same range of colors as the standard iPhone 14, much like the iPhone 13 mini is currently offered in the same palette as the iPhone 13.

This year’s iPhone 14 might feature a new purple color because the iPhone 13 doesn’t come in any purple variations. It’s a new shade, so we’re less certain about it than some others, but at least twice it’s been leaked.

First, a user going by the name of “Olivo sauce ovo” said in a post on the Chinese social media site Weibo that we will see a purple tint that could change in tone based on the lighting.

The article was later removed, but not before AppleTrack discovered it (opens in new tab). Take the promise of a color-shifting iPhone with a grain of salt, though, as this source doesn’t have much of a track record with leaks.

But more recently, @Jioriku(opens in new tab) also asserted via Twitter that a purple shade will be present, without specifying whether or not the tone will change.

Though we’re great fans of colorful phones, and the purple iPhone 12, the new Bora Purple finish available on the Samsung Galaxy S22, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 are all gorgeous, we hope a purple hue is planned.

The iPhone 14 is supposed to come in green, but so far we’ve only heard one source mention it. While the iPhone 13 is available in green, we’re not entirely sure if the iPhone 14 will, either.

That source is the previously mentioned @Jioriku, another one with a spotty history. In light of this, we wouldn’t anticipate seeing a green iPhone 14, but we also wouldn’t rule it out. Like purple, green is a color we’d really like to see.

We definitely anticipate that the iPhone 14 will be available in black, one of the most popular smartphone hues, despite Midnight being the closest current iPhone 13 color (which is actually a very dark blue).

The two sources mentioned above are at least two of the sources that have claimed that a black shade is planned. While it’s not a color we’re overly fond of, black is a safe, modest option that looks sleek and will appeal to many.

As with black, white, or its closest neighbor Starlight, as it will likely be referred to formally, is a color Apple offers in its current line-up and will likely continue to offer with the iPhone 14. This is because white is such a common color choice for smartphones in general.

Both of the aforementioned sources have revealed this as well, making it a very likely possibility.

The same two sources have also indicated a blue color, which is another one that is also offered on the iPhone 13 but, according to reports, may be more of a sky blue than the dark, deep color featured on the iPhone 13.

Since it’s less common than black or white, we’d say this hue is less likely to appear than those two, but given that it’s available on current iPhones and has been rumored by numerous sources, there’s a decent possibility we’ll see it.

Since the last few iPhone generations have all dabbled with various hues of blue between models, we’re just eager to know where such a color might land tonally.

A red iPhone 14 was always a strong possibility because Apple likes the color red almost as much as it loves the colors black and white. Now that it has been mentioned by the two sources mentioned above, it is even more likely.

Expect a vibrant hue of this, officially known as PRODUCT(RED), with purchases of this color helping to fight global health issues like AIDS and COVID-19.

Gold or Rose Gold

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max may come in gold color, according to at least three sources. However, only the first, leaker Jon Prosser, specifically referenced rose gold; the other two, the aforementioned sources, only refer to the color as “gold.”

Although we are unsure which is more accurate at this time, we would assume that merely gold is the most likely option given that the iPhone 13 Pro already comes in this color and that the reports claiming gold are the more recent.

Since Apple has a history with both of these colors and there are numerous sources, we’d say that either one or the other is very likely to be included in the lineup.

But given historical trends, if it’s just gold instead of rose gold, anticipate it to be a very subdued tint.

Every iPhone 14 model, including the Pro models, will reportedly come in a new shade of purple. However, given Apple’s preference for keeping its Pro models sophisticated and subtle, we would anticipate the purple to be darker or paler on the Pro models.

Both @Jioriku and the Weibo source stated above have pointed to purple, as has leaker Jon Prosser, who even went so far as to reveal unofficial renders of how it would look in a Front Page Tech video(opens in new tab) (opens in new tab). One of these can be shown above, displaying a noticeably light purple that is less saturated than the purple on the iPhone 12/12 Mini from 2021

This is another color option because the same source who stated a green iPhone 14 also said we’ll receive green iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. It’s speculative to say that if all of these phones do get it, the Pro models won’t have a green as vivid as the regular and Max versions.

However, Alpine Green is a color choice for the iPhone 13 Pro line, so we might see a variation on this current motif for 2022. At the moment, just one source has mentioned this shade, so we are not at all confident in its arrival.

We would assume that this one is extremely plausible because graphite has been mentioned by @Jioriku and “Oivo sauce ovo,” in addition to the fact that it’s a color you can acquire in the iPhone 13 Pro line in.

It serves as the Pro line’s equivalent to black, providing a somber and stylish yet genuinely dull tone.

The same two sources that cited the majority of these additional colors also mentioned silver, another color available on the iPhone 13 Pro, so there is a good likelihood that it will also be available on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

Expect the same color this year as it is quite a pale silver on current models and the closest thing to white (sorry, Starlight) you can get on the iPhone 13 Pro.

As there are six rumored colors for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max and five for the Pro versions, which correspond to the iPhone 13 line, the colors above, while not guaranteed, account for the correct number of shades on each phone.

All of which is to argue that this may be the entire spectrum of colors that we see. Which hues will therefore be rejected?

We probably won’t see pink on the iPhone 14 if these rumors are accurate; instead, a new purple color appears to be taking its place. The Sierra Blue color that is available on the iPhone 13 Pro may not be available on the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max; instead, purple may be used in its place.

If these reports are true, purple may be the only entirely new color this year, but don’t be shocked if some of the other colors are offered in tones that differ from those of their predecessors, as you can see in the image above or in our guide to the iPhone 13 colors.
