At the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Apple revealed MacBook Air and 13-inch New MacBook Pro models based on its new M2 CPU. With the promise of increased power, the new MacBook Air is larger than the previous Air. But a larger 13.6-inch display and a new M2 chip come at a greater cost. The new M2 MacBook Air line’s beginning price is $1,199 instead of the previous $999 price point. The new M2 chip-equipped 13-inch MacBook Pro has the same starting list price of $1,299 as the model it replaces.
And the first reductions have now been applied to the new M2 machines. At Amazon, you can get the M2 MacBook Air for $150 less and the M2 MacBook Pro for $71 less.
If you’re mourning the loss of the Air’s $999 starting price (as we are; sniff), you can still save $149 by purchasing the previous-generation MacBook Air with the M1 CPU and 13.3-inch display at Amazon for $850. The previous 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 processor is still available for $950 at Best Buy, a significant $349 savings.
The company’s largest and most potent MacBooks are the 14-inch MacBook Pro and its bigger 16-inch Pro brother, both of which are powered by Apple’s M1 Pro CPU. They are currently available at Amazon for $399 less than the lowest pricing we have found so far, with a $1 premium.
Some of the Amazon discounts combine a partial discount that is applied upfront with additional savings that are applied at checkout. For further discounts at checkout, pay attention to the green print in the area below the price on the Amazon product page.

Prices for Apple MacBooks in the US
The starting price of the new M2 MacBook Air is $1,199 whereas that of the outgoing M1 MacBook Air is $999. Starting prices for the 13-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are $1,299, $1,999, and $2,499, respectively.
Although Amazon and Best Buy now provide the lowest pricing, one advantage of paying full price and purchasing from Apple is that you may personalise the device and add extra RAM or a larger solid-state drive. The models that Amazon and other merchants sell have predetermined specifications.
Do you want to choose refurbished items? On Apple’s Certified Reconditioned Mac website, you can now find refurbished M1 MacBooks. Refurbished inventory fluctuates quickly, so an M1 MacBook Air or Pro may not always be featured. However, it’s worthwhile to keep an eye out because you may lock in significant discounts of up to $200. CNET’s Cheapskate emeritus Rick Broida is a huge lover of refurbished products, especially Apples because they are frequently just as excellent as brand-new.
It’s also important to note that the Apple Store provides students with an educational discount, which may reduce the cost of a new laptop or tablet by hundreds of dollars.

M1 MacBook Air 2022 costs $850 ( 256GB SSD )
Apple’s M1 processor, which contains an eight-core CPU, a seven-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, is included in the MacBook Air from 2020. Apple’s M1 MacBook Air begins at $999 and has a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. It has a 13.3-inch Retina display, Touch ID, and the Magic keyboard but not the Touch Bar, which may be seen as a plus. The solid-state storage of the step-up model, which costs $1,199 from Apple, is doubled to 512GB.
On the 256GB variant in silver or gold, Amazon is now offering a $150 discount. At checkout, an additional $50 in discounts is applied to the initial $99 discount. Despite a $150 Amazon discount, the new M2 MacBook Air still costs $199 more than the M1 version.
M2 MacBook Air for 2022 ($1,049; 256GB SSD)
The M2 MacBook Air features a bigger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, the second-generation Apple Silicon chip, and two new color’s: starlight and midnight. It also loses the tapered wedge design of the Air and now resembles the slab-like, squared-off Pro versions. For improved video calls, the camera has now been enhanced to 1080p resolution. Starting at $1,199, the M2 Air is $200 more expensive than the M2 model it replaces. It has a 256GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and an M2 processor with an eight-core CPU and eight-core GPU. The $1,499 step-up model features a 512GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, an M2 chip with an eight-core CPU and a ten-core GPU.
The greatest price cut to far is being offered by Amazon, which is discounting the 256GB model by $150. At Amazon, you can also get the 512GB variant for $150 less.

$1,228 for a 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro with 256GB SSD (a $71 savings)
The redesigned 13-inch MacBook Pro is almost unchanged from the previous model except from the new M2 processor. The Touch Bar, which is divisive and largely despised, is now present on just one laptop in the revised Apple lineup. Additionally, it has the same two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports for peripherals and charging but does not include the new MagSafe charger. The cost is the same as it was for the prior series. The $1,299 entry-level model has a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. The SSD is doubled to 512GB in the $1,499 variant.
On the 256GB model from Amazon, you can save $71. If you want additional capacity, the 512GB model will save you $49 instead.
$1499 for a 14-inch MacBook Pro with 512GB SSD
The $1,999 entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro has an eight-core M1 Pro processor, a 14-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The 10-core M1 Pro CPU, 16-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD are included in the $2,499 step-up model. The 3,024×1,964 resolution of the 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display is impressive.
The highest reduction we’ve seen is $399 off at Amazon for the standard 14-inch Pro in space grey. A $200 upfront discount is applied, and an additional $199 is charged at checkout. The 1TB model also offers a $399 savings.
512GB SSD 16-inch MacBook Pro: $2,100 (Save $399)
The entry-level 16-inch MacBook Pro costs $2,499 and is equipped with a 10-core M1 Pro processor, a 16-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 512B SSD. The storage is upgraded to a 1TB SSD in the $2,699 model, while the $3,499 model has the M1 Max CPU, a 32-core GPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. 3,456×2,234 pixels are contained in the 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display.
On the basic model or the 1TB model at Amazon, you may save $399. There is an initial discount and further discounts at checkout for each. It adds up to a price reduction for either variant of the 16-inch Pro that is just $1 less than the largest reduction we have yet seen.
